SOLAR SERVICES

The solar journey

Retail Logistics is a pioneer in providing freight and logistics solutions to customers from various segments of the market. Daily operations of such a large facility require around 8 MWh of electricity per day. This high energy demand results in 2000 tonnes of annual carbon dioxide emissions. Carbon dioxide is one of the greenhouse gases that contributes to global warming.  Thus, as an organization committed towards excellence and sustainability, the management decided to explore green energy savings solutions provided by renewable energy.

Anchor 1

Retail Logistics is largely contributing to Dubai’s clean energy strategy.

The 1.5 MW solar PV rooftop energy and environment saving solution was offered by SDG Energy that would not only offset more than 75% of their electricity bills but would also contribute to the company’s sustainability goals. 4608 solar modules would produce 2280 MWh of Clean energy and reduce their emission to only 1800 tonnes per annum. This is equivalent to planting 26,000 trees and removing 350 cars from UAE roads.

The entire turn-key project, from design, approvals, installation and commissioning, was overseen by SDG Energy in 60 days using 43,200 man-hours. The solar team of SDG Energy overcame the technical and design challenges of the facility with the help of its expert team of solar PV and construction engineers and installed more than 4600 solar panels while strictly adhering to the highest QHSE standards.
